Bobbie Jo Goodell - 10th Grade Winner

Have you ever lived in a small village where you feel like you now everyone? That's like me. I live in a small village, Trumansburg. Trumansburg is a very small village. Almost not even there. I have lived in Trumansburg since I was really small. I have grown to appreciate almost anything. I am just a young teenager (age 15). I like the village of Trumansburg not only because I have grown up here but also because we have a cozy little village. We have two small grocery stores, P&C and Shurvine.

Every year around Christmas the village gathers around the mayors house on Main Street for a little celebration. The celebration is a fun one and it is called "the festival of lights". My dad is a fire policeman so he helps with the traffic. It is so nice to know my dad is helping out.

We also have "grassroots" which lots of people come to. They come from all over. Poeple do parking for "grassroots". My dad does parking and one year he made over 1,000 dollars just for parking. That's not including the vendors.

We also have the wonderful Trumansburg fair. The Trumansburg fair comes once a year in the last week of august. It is always a pleasure to go. No I'm not saying everything in Trumansburg is perfect. There are some things I would like to change. For instance they could put another grocery store here. And we could use a clothing store so we don't have to travel to Ithaca just to go shopping. Also we could lose one of the bars. I think we have way too many. We could also use a computer store. After all now days everyone has a computer.

Some things that don't need to be changed are the beauty of the village. To walk through the village is like walking through a warm spring on a hot summer day. What I mean is we get a feeling of delight when we walk through the village.

At home I live with my dad and stop mom. We have a small house just outside of town. I have 2 bably brothers and 1 stepsister and 1 stepbrother. I see my mom very other weekend. In my home we have a cozy living room. The family gathers here every night. Monday to Sunday.

My friends are mostly all from Trumansburg. I hardly ever hear a condemning word about Trumansburg coming from their mouths.

I have always had pets from the day I was born. Most of the time you will find at least 1 pet in a comfortable home in Trumansburg. Pets make the home feel cozier.

Some of the things I wear reflect me as a person not the village I live in. I wear bell-bottoms because they are the style. I wear belly shirts sometimes because I have a beautiful body. I wear my hair down most of the time, which it is died blonde. I wear some cowgirl boots because they are comfortable. I wear a bracelet with my little sister's name on it because it is one of my prized possessions. I also wear a leopard skin bracelet as a reminder that even though they are beautiful, they are also killed for their fur.

At school I have made the honor role and made friends with most of my teachers.

The only foods I don't like are, spinich, sweet potatoes, beats and lemons. But you will find hardly any kid in Trumansburg does like any of them things.

I can't bdrive yet but can tell you when I do I will only drive a Chevrolet I don't like any other kind of vehicle.

Things in the news today are like the war with Iraq I totally disagree with it. Why should we go to war when they have not done anything to us? Most everyone in Trumansburg disagrees wit this war!

All in all living in Trumansburg is a wonderful experience and I wish everyone could experience the life I have had here. Every day is a new beginning in Trumansburg.

The end!!!
